|“There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians. Or the Toltecs. Or the Mayans. Some believe there may be brothers of man who even now fight to survive . . . somewhere beyond the heavens.”|
Those who have reached the blessed age somewhere in there 30’s will know this series, Battlestar Galactica. After the success of Star Wars a lot of spin offs followed suit. One of those series was Battlestar Galactica.
The human Colonial forces have agreed to peace with their mortal enemies the Robotic Cylons when a surprise attack destroys most of the Colonial Fleet. The remnants of the Colonials form up a “ragtag group of ships” on the surviving Battlestar Galactica. They decide to go off in a search for a planet called earth as the Cylons continue to search for them.
In 1979 Revell made a few kits from this series, one of them being the classic enemy ship, the Cylon Raider. Now for the 3Oth anniversary Revell has re-issued the same mold again. A full review can be found here .
This kit shows it’s age, a terrible fit, panellines are not engraved but I had a blast with this kit.
After a few minutes I started puttying the complete kit and started rescribing the panel lines. I brushed some paint on it for the effect and it was quite happy with the end result.
The next step will be lighting the kit with LED’s.
